...we celebrated a life.

My dear sweet friend went home on Sunday, today we gathered to celebrate her life. Jeannie was the sweetest woman I've had the pleasure to know.

Her husband shared that he used to go out of his way to be by her school when she got out, so he could give her a ride (to the end of her block). It was fun to see her as a sneaky teen in love.

You could see her grow in happiness with each passing milestone. Her graduation, her wedding, and with each new baby her smiles got bigger. By the time her grandchildren arrived she could not contain her smiles. This is the time of her life in which our paths crossed. When she spoke of her children and especially her grandchildren her joy shined through. I will always remember when she brought her granddaughter to a baby shower for a friend. You'd have thought she'd brought with her the queen of England. I'd always tease her about needing to be more into her kids, although I don't believe that it would be possible.

She was always most interested in how you were doing. I rarely knew her to have a problem. She shared glimpses of her life, she once told me that this quote by John Wesley meant a lot to her.

“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.”

Well, Jeannie. I think you did it all. We will miss you here, but look forward to hanging out in the future, discussing your favorite subjects your Jesus and your family. BTW your family is amazing. Your daughters are so nice and sweet and miss you so much. Your husband was thankful for every day he shared with you. I know you know all of this, rest easy knowing that we will love them all the best we know how until we all join you.

What a beautiful tribute to such a loving and caring woman. I was surprised and saddended to hear of her passing, though mostly for her family, as anyone who's met Jeannie knows she would be glad to be going home. Loves!
